This is a VC/UHV Library Podcast on Getting books and journal articles the library does not own, and is current as of April 24, 2008. An audio version of this podcast can be found at vcuhvlibrary.uhv.edu/studyguides The VC/UHV Library has over 250,000 books and access to over 24,000 journals and magazines. Even so, it is unlikely that we will have all the resources you may find in research databases. Through a service called interlibrary loan, we can borrow books, journal articles, and sometimes multimedia items from libraries all over the country. Interlibrary Loan service is available to all students free of charge. All you have to do is fill out a request form located on the Librarys web page. The request form link is the graphic icon - get materials from another library - on the Librarys main page. There are different request forms for journals and books. Delivery is quick and we are very proud that we deliver over 95% of all requests made by students and faculty for interlibrary loan materials. Journal articles can be sent to your email and usually arrive 1 or 2 days after your request. Books must be shipped from the lending library and usually take about a week to arrive. Our request form allows you to select from which UHV library location you want to pick the book. You may select the VC/UHV Library in Victoria, the Sugar Land library, or the Cinco Ranch location. You can check the status of your requests online at the webpage vcuhvlibrary.uhv.edu, click on the ?get materials from another library? graphic to find the search box. For more information about Interlibrary Loan and other library services, check out the Librarys website - vcuhvlibrary.uhv.edu. Additional podcasts on other library services and information resources are available under the study guides and help section of the Librarys website.
